peer coexistence in school is a matter of concern installed on the national public agenda, for some decades now. In line with this concern, since 2006, Law 26206, on National Education, which establishes among its educational purposes, the construction of skills for the exercise of responsible, participatory and democratic citizenship governs. As a result, at the secondary level of the Province of Jujuy, actions adjusted to these regulations were implemented. Knowing, from the perspective of adolescents in the first years of high school, the devices they recognize, aimed at achieving that purpose, can be a valuable contribution to their possible strengthening and reconstruction. Due to this, from a chair of Evolutionary Psychology, the research project called “Institutional devices that recognize adolescents as promoters of democratic practices in the first years of secondary school” was formulated, endorsed and funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, from the National University of Jujuy. Its specific objectives seek to: a) investigate in what circumstances adolescents detect institutional devices, tending to promote practices of democratic coexistence, among peers in school; b) analyze which devices they recognize oriented to the management of conflicts between students; c) describe within the framework of which devices, they find proposals for the construction of peer agreements. The task has a two-year work plan and is developed from a qualitative perspective, with an interpretive approach, counting as data collection strategies, group interviews and semi-structured individual interviews. Although the work is in progress, advances are collected, which account for certain participation devices, detected by students in the school.
